IN HIS SERVICE:

by Danielle Bean Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta once said, “One of the greatest diseases is to be nobody to anybody.” These words break my heart. We can all understand the kind of pain that loneliness causes, but do we see the loneliness that is around us every day? As women, we have a unique capacity to love the unloved. We may not (yet!) do this as heroically as Mother Teresa, but every one of us has the ability to do what John Paul II called a mother’s talent for “seeing with the eyes of the heart.” Who do you know who may be lonely? What person in your life can you reach out to and truly “see” today? A stranger on the street, your mother-in-law, or a cranky neighbor? How can you make a “nobody” feel like “somebody” today?
