Charity

"CHARITY is a paradox, like modesty and courage. Stated baldly, charity certainly means one of two things -- pardoning unpardonable acts, or loving unlovable people." ~G.K. Chesterton: 'Orthodoxy.'

  1. Yes quite a paradox..I see Charity as an action, not a feeling or desire. You cannot be charitable simply by words and behave opposingly. To truly pardon the unpardonable and love the unlovable is to cease seeking punishment for them by means of revenge, detraction, or slander. Not an easy task in the case of deep wounds and prolonged pain. Our souls seek justice and healing, but we must be constantly reminded as not to forget for a moment through whom true justice and healing comes.

    Dear Lord,
Please give me humility and patience to suffer with dignity and grace the injustice before me. Please except my sincere sorrow for falling short from where you have called me. Give me the strength to do better.
    Amen
